HDK-CNG Series Adsorption Air Dryers

In Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) Refuelling stations it is imperative that the CNG is both dry and clean before it is transferred to storage cylinders and dispensed into vehicles' fuel tanks to limit the amount of damaging dirt and water entering the power train. The high pressure of the fuel (200 bar plus) means that effective drying in particular is critical. NGV Refuelling stations employ point-of-use dryers to ensure that CNG dispensed into storage cylinders and fuel tanks is dry and clean.

High pressure compressed natural gas dryer. Dries the gas on the discharge (high pressure) side, making the dryer much smaller.

The Parker Zander HDK-CNG Series High Pressure dryer range has been designed as a compact, cost-effective packaged system combining high-efficiency filtration with a regenerative adsorption dryer which operates without the need for any gas to be lost in the regeneration cycle.

The traditional method for drying natural gas has been to locate the dryers on the suction (low pressure) side of the CNG compressor. At low pipeline pressures this means the dryers are very large which has a significant impact on capital cost. The HDK-CNG Series dries the gas on the discharge (high pressure) side, making the dryer much smaller and thus significantly reducing the capital cost as well as the overall product footprint.

Sizing and Model Selection
To ensure quoted gas purity performance is met, a compressed gas dryer must be sized correctly for minimum operating pressure, maximum inlet temperature and maximum inlet flow rate using the Product Information Sheet.
